Try Physical Therapy First
Physical Therapy is treatment that addresses pain and disability from muscle, joint and movement disorders. Often people have an injury or accident which results in pain and a lack of ability to participate in their regular daily activities. Some times people just wake up with pain which totally disrupts their ability to participate in their normal activities. Physical Therapy is non-surgical treatment designed to resolve your pain and allow you to return to function as soon as possible. Different than chiropractic treatment physical therapy can provide long term relief. After your pain is resolved, Physical Therapy can also address maintenance and prevention from future episodes of pain.

Physical Therapists have the opportunity to spend time with a patient in order to listen and understand where the pain is, how it came about, and what needs to be done about it. We specialize in resolving pain, working with the muscles and returning you to regular patterns of movement, so you can get back to your life. Many times people get a test result back, x-rays or MRI and are told "there is nothing wrong" and people are left wondering why they still hurt. Many times muscles and the lack of ability to move normally are why people have pain and these will not show up on any test.

Physical Therapy works to find the root of the trouble and resolve the issue. All people do not live with pain! Pain is not a normal part of aging. Injuries and pain from accidents do resolve and do not have to have long term or residual effects.

By trying physical therapy first you are being very proactive and addressing the root cause of the problem. Many people are realizing that medications are often a "band- aid" and not a long term solution. The Journal of the American Heart Association website states that "...drugs should be the last line of treatment...We advise physicians to start with non-pharmacologic treatments such as physical therapy."
